Founded in 1958, the Department of Respiratory Medicine of the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University is one of the respiratory specialties with the longest history in China. After more than 60 years of hard work, it has become a respiratory specialty with distinctive characteristics and outstanding advantages integrating medical treatment, scientific research and teaching, and has a solid working foundation. At present, it is a national key clinical specialty, an excellent unit for the standardization of the discipline of national respiratory and critical care medicine (PCCM), including national residential training, specialized training, specialized training and 5 individual training bases (the first in Chongqing), the core unit of the National Respiratory Clinical Research Center, and the national drug clinical trial institution (respiratory specialty and tuberculosis specialty)

Respiratory endoscopy training base of Chinese Medical Doctor Association (the only one in Chongqing), key discipline of Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, key discipline of medicine in Chongqing, and medical quality control center of respiratory medicine in Chongqing. The Second Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine (Jinshan Campus) is composed of a backbone medical team from the Respiratory Department of the First Hospital of Intensive Medical Sciences (2 chief physicians, 2 deputy chief physicians, and 5 attending physicians; 1 nurse in charge and 16 nurses), 45 beds, including single, double and triple rooms, to meet the different needs of patients and their families. A series of advanced respiratory interventional diagnosis and treatment technology platforms have been established, such as rigid/soft bronchoscopy, ultrafine bronchi, ultrasound bronchoscopy, radial ultrasound probe + C-arm guidance, magnetic navigation, CT, CBCT or ultrasound-guided transairway, percutaneous lung puncture, internal medicine thoracoscopy, rapid on-site cell evaluation (ROSE), laryngeal mask ventilation, etc., with a strong multidisciplinary support platform for pathogenic microorganisms, respiratory pathology, respiratory imaging and other related multidisciplinary support platforms, which can realize early, accurate, minimally invasive, and rapid biopsy of total intrathoracic lesions,diagnosis and treatment.
