The Department of Neurosurgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University was founded in 1959 by Shanghai Huashan Hospital in Chongqing by Professor Zhu Zhenqing, one of the founders of neurosurgery in China, and is one of the earliest neurosurgery departments in southwest China. Over the past 60 years, the specialty has continued to grow and develop, and has been approved as a national key clinical specialty, the first batch of national neurosurgery specialist training bases, the Chinese Medical Doctor Association neuroendoscopist training base, the Chinese Medical Association Neurosurgery Branch Spine and Spinal Cord Surgery Training Base, the Chinese Medical Doctor Association Microsurgery Skills Training Center, Chongqing Academician Expert Workstation, Chongqing Key Discipline, Chongqing Medical Key Discipline, Chongqing Neurosurgery Diagnosis and Treatment Center, Chongqing Neurosurgery Medical Quality Control Center, Doctoral and master's degree authorization points, postdoctoral mobile station, is a collection of medical treatment, scientific research, teaching and training as one of the comprehensive disciplines, with a high-quality medical and nursing technology team, the overall strength and medical technology level has reached the domestic first-class level, in the past four consecutive years has been nominated by Fudan specialty rankings, ranked second in southwest China, and first in Chongqing.
In terms of clinical medicine, it has formed 6 subspecialties of cerebrospinal cord vascular diseases, neurotumors, spinal cord and spine, functional neurosurgery, neurocritical disease, and craniocerebral injury, and currently has more than 60 positions in national academic organizations, including 15 members of the two major groups of the Chinese Medical Association and the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, ranking first in Chongqing, making our department a veritable highland for neurosurgery diagnosis and treatment in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, and taking the lead in establishing the "Upper Yangtze River Neurosurgery Specialty Alliance"
In terms of scientific research, he has undertaken 128 sub-projects of the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan", the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" and the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" National Science and Technology Support Project, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Chongqing Natural Science Foundation Project, the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, the Chongqing Municipal Health Bureau, etc., and published more than 650 papers. It has successively won 1 first prize of provincial and ministerial level scientific and technological progress, 3 second prizes of provincial and ministerial level scientific and technological progress awards, 4 third prizes of provincial and ministerial level scientific and technological progress, 2 first prizes of departmental and bureau level medical science and technology achievements, and 1 second prize of departmental and bureau level medical science and technology achievements.
In terms of teaching and training, it has trained 87 doctors, 340 masters, and more than 1,000 advanced students from Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Shaanxi, Guangxi, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Hunan, Hubei and other cities.
